Paleo Diet and an ER Visit

Last week Steve and I tried out the Paleo diet.
No dairy, grains, bread, starch, soda, etc.
Honestly, it kinda sucked for me... A LOT.
I don't see myself sticking to it and plan to go back to my normal *eating healthy* ways.

Anywho, one night we made Paleo Banana Bread.
Some of the ingredients include almond flour and walnuts.  It was actually pretty fricken' amazing!  My daughter was eating it up too.  All of a sudden Briana starts telling us that her tongue hurts and she was breaking out on her face and neck.  "Mommy, daddy my tongue hurts.  I need to go to the doctor."

WHAT?!

As soon as she said that Steve and I agreed that it had to be the nuts.
I couldn't believe it because I've given her peanut butter a few times already and didn't even think about the tree nuts.

We gave her Benadryl and took her to the emergency room.  By the time we got there she was fine but needed to get checked out already just in case.
Briana was SO pumped to about going to the doctor's.

In her finest Dora costume and sandals with heels.

Everything ended up being just fine.  The doctor didn't want to give her any other meds since the Benadryl seemed to have done the job.

We went to her pediatrician for a follow up a couple days ago and she prescribed the Epipen that we'll probably never have to use.  It's only a just in case thing.  We're also going to see an allergist to see exactly what she's allergic to.

It was quite the scare!
But thanks to Doc McStuffins, she's been loving the doctor's office.  It's better than the screaming she used to do :)

VA Runner Review

VA Runner

Last week I was in a desperate need for new shoes for running and boot camp.
(Don't worry... I will not show you the ugly foot picture again.  Your welcome!)
I have been hearing great reviews about VA Runner and =PR= Potomac River Running.
VA Runner is closer to my house so I chose to go there.

What a GREAT experience I had!  The staff is very well trained... They know what they're doing, they're not judgemental (I don't look like a super fit runner) and personable.
Weird thing happened.  When we were measuring for my size, I found out that one foot is almost a size bigger than the other foot.  What the hell?! I didn't know that was possible.  I knew my feet grew after I had a baby but DAYUM!
Anywho, the professional at the store didn't look phased by it so I'm assuming it happens?

The prices of the shoes are pretty reasonable.  I was also happy about how I wasn't pressured into buying other things that I don't need and will never use.

My beauties.

While we were there, the Hubs bought a foam roller.

Oh. Jeebus.

This thing is unbelievable.
After a work out last week, my back was crazy sore.
Using this for only a few minutes I felt NO pain the next day.  I'm in love with it!

If you're looking for a new pair of shoes and want them to last for awhile, check these guys out!

Wordless(ish) Wednesday: Briana's First Day of School!

My poor little blog.
I've neglected her for a whole week :(
I suppose I've been busier than usual...
I haven't even gone to my boot camp class so I know it's an "Off" week.

Look at this big beautiful three year old!
Today was my daughter's first day of preschool at

For the last couple months Briana has been begging us, "Mommy, Daddy I wanna go to school!!"
I've been feeling so bad because schools are just so damn expensive and we're also trying to save money to buy a house next year.

Briana will be going twice a week... two FULL days.
We'll be giving the preschool a moon bounce to use for their "Moon bounce Monday."
What an awesome trade.  The school wins and we win!

This morning was so easy when we dropped her off.  She was in Heaven when she saw all the kids and toys.
Supposedly she didn't nap when it was *nap time* but she still behaved and laid down.
This kid was POOPED and cranky as hell when we got home.
Looks like we need to get her on a new sleep schedule!

Yes... I get Me time too but I'm more excited for her getting around more kids and learning rather than sitting at home watching cartoons all day.

I told myself I'd be productive while she was gone...
BUT I took the longest nap ever, went on a lunch and Costco date with the Hubs instead.
AHH well, maybe next week :)

Oh, How Pinteresting!!

Almost Race Time!

| | | Comments: (3)

I wish I had the schedule where I could sign up for a ton of races during race season.
Another reason to hate working weekends!

BUT...  I did sign up for one this upcoming Saturday that really touches my heart.

The Brain Aneurysm 8k will be in Reston, VA this weekend!
My cousin died in March of this year.  The brain aneurysm's she went through had put her into a coma for over three years.
Her funeral was actually the day before my wedding.

I can't wait to run in it!  I gotta get my act together and make a shirt just to honor her.

Anyone else running in any races this fall?

WHOOPS

A day late!
I wasn't home much yesterday but really wanted to come up with my list on 10 things wedding that Stasha created... so here goes.

Ten Things About My Wedding

1. It was my first special occasion where I treated myself and got my make up sprayed on.  I felt
AMAZING.

2. My daughter walked all the way down the aisle like a perfect angel and if you turned around... you would have seen me fist pumping before my grand entrance HAH!
(During the rehearsal she was a complete animal.)

3. I forgot my vows and asked our Pastor to "repeat the last part."

Of course, when I'm nervous I have to laugh about it!

4.  The bad thing about my perfect dress:  it ended up being too long for me and so I stepped on the under skirt numerous times before the ceremony, after the ceremony and during the reception :(

5. The limo ride to the reception = I laughed so much it hurt.

6. We jumped through hoops to get a Photo Booth for our reception... but it was worth it!
It's also the first time that the country club had ever had a photo booth at their venue.  Go us!

7. My Hubs got teary-eyed during our First Dance :)

8. Kurt ='s
-DJ
-Videographer
-Limo Driver
&
Friend
YAY for connections!

9. My photographer was fabulous and also, a close family friend.
I wished we had gotten more pictures taken outside on the golf course but...
I was so hungry and really wanted to eat the food I picked out.

10. We had about 90 people to celebrate our day with us.
It was the perfect amount and still wished I could have talked to people for a longer period of time.

*sighs*

Hubs and the little love of our lives.

The wine tree at Eggspectations.
What a beautiful thing...

The new Cantina Bowl from Taco Bell.
Not too bad.

I don't know what the eff I was doing..

I love how easily excited she gets :)

Sister Love & an Anniversary!

Today marks the birth of my beautiful Sister-in-law.
Twenty two... that seems like a long time ago for me.

I was honored to have her as one of my Bridesmaids a few months ago.
She's a wonderful lady and super smart.  Hoping Briana follows in her foot steps!

This morning we met around 9AM at Burke Lake and ran the full 4.92 miles around.
We finished in fifty minutes.
First time I've ran around the lake without stopping and we both felt accomplished and SORE.

Just a little advice:  Don't wear old, stretched out shoes because you will be hurting afterwards.

(Yes, I've been told I need a pedicure.)

Time to get a new pair of cross training shoes!

Mid-afternoon I definitely took a nap with my babe.. I wouldn't have made it to the birthday dinner if I hadn't!

Today also marks my Husband and I's four year anniversary!
We started dating four years ago and have been married for almost six months now.
Time has FLOWN.  Feels like we've been together for half of that time.

A Younger picture of Us...

Isn't he a Hottie?!

He's still a Hottie :)
Wonderful, supportive and a great Father.

It's the longest relationship I've ever been in actually.
It's been a long fast road so far... not perfect, but we're happy.
I wouldn't have it any other way!

We'll be finishing up the evening with TV & good beer!

Happy Anniversary BF.  I love you!

Sunday Social

Hope everyone's having a lovely Sunday Funday!
I'll be working of course but am looking forward to my usual Monday-Thursday off hanging out with my babes.

Sunday Social is hosted by A Complete Waste of Makeup.
Check her out, loving her blog!

Questions of the Week:

1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it??

The Backwards Bride.
I started my blog almost a year ago (next month actually AHH!) and my main focus was blogging about my upcoming wedding (that happened on March 31, 2012) and my mommy hood adventures.
Baby First = Marriage Later
The name to me I thought was a perfect fit :)

2. What do you love the most about blogging??

I love being able to share my life and photos.  I have loved meeting new people... following their blogs and vice versa.  It's also a healthy habit that I've added to my list.  It's nice when someone asks me, "What do you do for fun?" and I actually have something to answer with.

3. What are your 2 favorite posts you've written?

AND
My very first post that I just read. Aww :)

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?

Don't expect anything.  When I started, I never thought I would have gone through with it for this long!
Just go with the flow.  Keep blogging.  If you don't have any ideas... find blog hops to keep you posting regularly.  I don't know what bloggers did before there were blog hops?  I feel like I came into this at just the right time!

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?

Even though life can make me busy, I have to remember to check my comments that people leave on my posts.  People have ignored me on theirs and that's not nice!  I've learned that I need to stay connected to all my followers... Blogging is more than just posting.
I've also learned that Google is my friend.  Even though my blog design is NOWHERE close to where I want... Googling tips and tricks has saved me from throwing my Hubs flat screen monitor across the room!

6. Give us 3 blogs we NEED to be following that you love.
